"MODERATION is the way of life."
Apparently from this article, it says that if you allocate a certain amount of time to play games, your skills at quick and effective decision making can be improved.
This is a WOW factor and a totally new perspective to look at this issue. In the past,we have always view this issue of gaming from the negative perspective which is more technologically deterministic.
Too much gaming = addiction = health risks = mental risks = death.
Often, we forget the idea of counterbalance. Everything is like coin , has its benefits and hazards.
It is depending again on the humans and how we used it. Here we are looking at humans making decisions on their life and technology is just one of the many tools to help them. The positive angle which is more human deterministic contrasting the negative ones. We are the ones with the brains not the machine which are dead.
Anyway, it is humans in the 1st place who design such attractive games for pple to play.
The issue lies in gain self-control.
Does the addiction to gaming signify the loss of self-control in this modern consumerist society?People starts to give in to material needs and wants. So visual?
I dunno. Would love your comments.
There is a lot of evidence that games are good for us.
In fact, it’s getting to the point where a small dose of online games (a few hours a week), is probably good for you.
Research from the University of Rochester seems to say so, and they have come to some interesting conclusions.
After dividing their test subjects into two groups, one was made to play action games while the other was made to play strategy games.
Both groups were then asked to make decisions on a number of tasks. In these tasks, participants had to look at a screen, analyze a situation, and answer a question as fast as possible.
The results: Action gamers made decisions up to 25% faster, while answering as many correct questions as the second group!
This means that playing online games isn’t a waste of time like many have claimed over the years.
In fact, this research points in the opposite direction, and it says playing a fast-paced game like Plants vs. Zombies can help boost your decision-making!
Of course, this doesn’t mean that one should suddenly be playing 80 hours of games a week. Just like everything else in life, playing games should be done in moderation.
So, if you’re interested in improving your decision-making, play games like Big Money or Bubble Buster. Don’t trust us? Test it out yourself, start playing games now and see the results!
