innovationation

Have you ever read J. D. Robb's "in Death" series?
Know the world of NYPD Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke?
Geez....if you duno, you are going to lose out!

A.D. 2059
Wrist unit = watch
pocket 'link = handphone
Droids = domestic maids in robotic form
in house 'link = home internal telephone
Super home unit = modern IBM supercomputer times N
AutoChef = Your cook in mircowave oven form which could whip up anything. A Prmitive form is seen in China, 2006.
House Scanner = surveillance camera that can speak and converse with the user. Look for people in different parts of the house.

Geez...i saw the primitive forms of these very technology alive!

Sophistication! Splendid! Eye-opening! Dreams Come True!

These are some of the words I would use to describe it!
A fascinating trip it is!
Haha...I was a bit reluctant to make way there coz it was so far away.
But after I went there it is worth it!

The trip started with a registration and a unique RFID card that allows you access and play with different equipment.
Now for a quick introduction to RFID.
RFID, meaning Radio Frequency IDentification. It is mostly used in supermarkets to detect theft and to keep updated about the various products' inventories.
As well as the libraries with that irritating beep everytime you did not borrow the item out properly.haha...

I learnt in-depth about the various uses of technology is different areas like healthcare, education, media works and government functioning. It is so cool.

Have you wonder how the traffic lights are adjusted during a traffic jam and how they get the message on the signboard that they placed on the various segments of the roads.
Geez....
All due to this grid system. So cool.

In the new plan, IN2015 (Intelligent Nation 2015), it is aimed at improving the lives of citizens and businesses.

I saw new gadgets.
1. Fuel Cell Phone "Flask" by NEC

The design looked sleek and sophisticated isnt it?
Very slim too. haha...very very nice.

2. NEC's "KotoHana" LED flower
This is a very unique one that will show the others how you feel based on your tone of voice. However, if you faked it, it will distort the signs of course.

3. The point and go navigation system.
Have you oftn wonder how u can be a cool geek like Tom Cruise in Minority Report?
This is another cool one where it is the closest to what you see in Minority Report.
Do you remember how Tom Cruise dissect out the different images from the ball with the use of a mouse but his fingers?
Well, this new technology here is the closest. Either you use ur fingers to move the cursor or you move with an area surrounded by sensors which then projected your choice to the large screen.
So cool...
Of course you gonna protect your fingers though..
Especially your index finger.
Dun use it to point at others so often.
You are not ET and might probably get broken if you point at the wrong person.

4. Media or TV programmes on the go.
In the modern age, it is often that you have a choice. So you decide whether you want it or not.
If your favorite program is about to show, and you have a meeting now, dun fret.
You can download the program in whatever media you like, be it TV, computer or HP. Then if you need to stop. It is ok. They can be recorded at where you stop and transfer to a new media.
Totally cool and mag huh?
It is like a dream come true for me especially when I was a kid. I hate to go shopping with mum when my favorite TV program is coming up.
But again I wonder, do you have time to rest if you had so much choices?
Maybe Xin is correct in saying that well, people do pioritise you know.
But I was thinking about the obsessed group like me who prefers to finish the show ahead.haha...
we will die of fatigue I guess...

5. Friend Finder
This is one technology that shocked me asn Xin. Geez...
So scary.,
This one allows you to find your friends no matter where they are.
Sounds like stalking if you duno the friends well enuff.
Geez..
Does that means that we cannot lie to others where we are? asmall white lie is easily detectable I guess..
I think my friends will be quite happy to get one on me.
Hmm.....
That loss of privacy is complete scary to Xin.
I think maybe not that scary.
As you know, man shaped the use of technology as well as technology shaped man.
Perhaps the developer can customise the thing such that users can shut down the system if they dun want another one to track them down.haha...

6. Fine Picure (FP) code by Fujitsu.
This is another cool technology and a new millieu for the advertising industry.
here is a brief excerpt on the use.

Fujitsu develops “invisible” barcode
On September 13, Fujitsu unveiled a new type of “invisible” barcode, called FP (Fine Picture) code, which allows data to be embedded directly into color print photographs. FP code consists of a series of faint yellow lines — said to be invisible to the naked eye — which are overlaid on the photograph during the printing process. Once encoded, a photograph can retain its original quality while serving as an “object hyperlink” to websites that users can access via mobile phone.
To use FP code, users must first download special free software to their camera-equipped phone. Then, when the camera is used to take a picture of an encoded photograph, the code is sent to a server where it is converted into URL data, which is used to connect the user’s mobile phone to the corresponding website. Text, video and audio content can then be delivered directly to the user’s phone.
The first examples of FP code will reportedly begin to appear in Japanese catalogs and magazine advertisements as early as October. If FP code is what Fujitsu claims it is, we may soon bear witness to the disappearance of unsightly barcodes and QR code (2D code) from print material.
One thing, though.
If FP code is invisible, how will anyone know where to point their camera?
[Sources: Asahi Shimbun and Fujitsu press release]

I can answer that question as the representative demostrate to us.
There are yellow stripes on the picture with FP code. It is very faint but you can see as the pciture is sumwat distorted by the yellow stripes.
No worries on where to point coz you can see the stripes.
haha...

7. Samsung Ultra Mobile PC
OOh...i like this sleek, ultra thin PC. So cool. The keyboard is so great. I simply love this.
Too bad I dun like the brand. Strangely, I like Korean dramas but not the manufacturing.
This is a tablet PC, can be carried everywhere...
woo...Crowd pleasers
Geez...but this is so cool.
haha.....

It was so fun. Like Alice in the Wonderland.

However, this shows that our government is technophilic towards technology. They painted a very rosy pciture of technology in the near future.
Just like Japanese leading cellphone company NTT Docomo. They produced an image of the future every year.
But we have to take note that not every technology will by accepted by all countries. Some technology which may be useful, did not take off at all. Like 3G phones. Now we have 4G liao.
We need to have a series of strategies to increase penetration of this new technologies and reduce the tech gap between the early adopters and late adopters as well as the $$ gap between rich and poor.
This is not an easy task. Hopefully, it can be done.
