An eventful day!!!

For the longest time in my life, I have never had such a close shave in bidding rounds!
I got numbed along the way and refuse to get myself personally involved in the figure competitions, raising my bids along with others.
I was still quite worried that I din get the modules even after the bidding period ends.
But Alas, hehe, I got all my modules. That is so heng, I tot I could get away with bidding all my modules at 1 point each.
I think the dept fully aware that there are certain number of students taking classes should at least extend the vacancy more to us than the other depts. I feel quite sorry for those who had unable to bid for their modules successfully and me along the way fear I might be one of them.
So much for bidding and harsh reality.

NDP preview!!!

Going out with my sister today.
I din even know today was NDP preview till I found that almost half of the people in the MRT cabin are wearing RED!!!

I got shocked and realised that Hey it is NDP but so what!!

I din win a ticket to either of the preview or the actual event. Sourgrape mentality I know.
I cant be bothered to dress in RED when I am not going. So I happily shopped with my sister then I got myself a nice Chain from Perlini coz my old one is broken. (AS i said, I am a clumsy and rough person.)

Then as I walked myself to Suntec, the junction in front of Shaw Towers actually had traffic light problem. Then I got irritated. But decide to carry on. Then turn out that the roads around Suntec City area are totally blocked out and people are curiously peering into a vacant military compound. Stunned I decide to get a higher view. Turn out that I see the smart military marching troops for NDP rehearsing sia. Wah....The SPF, Navy, Air and Military...
One word left to describe...

COOL!!!!

Totally proud of them!!!

Then I carry on shopping lah....Coz not me marching mah..who cares..
Then around 810pm, I overheard a kid telling his parent, " Mommy I want to watch the firworks."

FIREWORKS!!!!!

How long have I not seen them......My sister calculated and said that 6yrs since we participate in NDP!!!

6yrs never see it live!!!!

How amazing so I a bit badgered my sister to stay for a little longer..

Birthday Gift!!!

I know that today I have been very picky and very very annoying sia...
Here is how I am going to amend things.
Hope you sisters have something in mind and things that I want...Otherwise, I wun wear it. I SWEAR!!!!

Not that I dun like Flared skirts but adding pockets to sides makes me look bulky and the design I tried on today was not very flattering to my body shape.

Wandering in fantasy land

I think I fall in love with quite a few words since young.
If you 1 some hints, look at the illustration on my blog.

Sophisticated is one.

Sleek is the other. Careful there, it is not "slick".

Maybe I am clumsy so I tend to admire these two traits.
What has these two words got to do with my fantasy land?
Well, the books that I chose to read are all quite fantasy and include those two words.

As usual, I fall into the world that authors have created. This time is is J.D Robb. (also known as Nora Roberts).
This series of novel is more investigative type and set in the fute , let say A.D. 2058.
In this series the main lead are Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her Husband, Roarke.
Here are the settings.
Sleek cars and security systems.
Fantastic technology that existed. (I am a technophile who embraces technology. To me Technology = Sleek and Sophistication)

And their Backgrounds?
Eve though had a tainted childhood, wields considerable power in her work. (cool, Love these kind of ladies. But her background abit like Oprah Winfrey's.)
She is rough, rugged, but has her own style.
She moves like panther, sleek movements and agile.
A bit thick nerves as well.
Had a husband who is a thief in the past. ( Here is the part I like best and even like her better)
A whiz now at security and still breaks in houses to help her.
Willing to accomodate her and her past. (cool)
Successful in his business, yet help out his wife.
Had a good taste ranging from wine, food to helping his wife pick her clothes for her to wear. (wah....)
Had some kind of understanding between them.
Wont Scream at her even if she tore a damn costly evening gown during investigation.
Wont force her to quit her job and attend every of his biz gatherings like "Tai-tai's" do.
(according to facts, she attend 3 out of 5 wor..)
Make breakfast for her in the morning.
Give her massage when she needs it.
Be there for her when she has a nightmare.

All these sounds very fantastic and screams the words sophistication and sleekness lor.. More importantly, the feelings run deep hehe.

But Sounds like I am a feminist wor. Hehe, no returns to the guy, a bit sad huh?

Reflection on blogging

It seems I have been taking blogging too lightly.

Duno why, My standard of writting skills actually declined.

Horrible sia, since I need this to survive sia.

Guess, my brain is not working so it refuse to work in the correct order and logic.

Hate this notion, guess I have to work harder on my writting skills then.

I cant really imagined the possibility of losing it.

LOst the touch!!!

Sports and $$$$

I spend the whole day watching the final presentation aim for the bid to become the next host city for 2012 Olympics.

I find that each candidate city have played different cards on their tables well.

Sleek presentation, colours and vibrancy, children and hope, culture and art, warmth and spirit.

Very nice outlook.

I had a bit of doubt myself when my whole family voted and rooted for Paris.

It turn out that London has won. My intuition was right after all

The event was rather full of prestige, glam and $$$.

I blanched a little when i saw NY's bid presentation including marketing ties. (juz one of the many examples, happen that this is quite recent.)

Though that is part of sports now, I will never get used to tying sports to $$$.

I rembr I wrote my A" level GP compo on it.

The best example that i use i think was Manchester United. It was already famous boosting David Beckham and so on. the earnings from side merchandising was equally a big tidy sum.

But without $$4, who will wish to host games for the name of sports?

God knows, if modern people have done enough exercise to keep themselves fit, let alone sports man.

The essence of Blogging

On today's Chinese newspaper, there is a mentioning of the blogsphere convention in Singapore. Over 500 participants have signed up for the event. The main organisers seem to be Mr Miyagi, Mr Brown and Xiaxue.
There is a special one-liner that says," there are more bloggers in Singapore who are unidentified yet contributed to the local blogsphere."
That I must agree. A lot of us have kept blogs and made known to only a few close ones around us. Some for the purpose of keeping in touch with one another. Some for pure voyeuristic purpose of delving into another person's world.
I have friends and lecturers who have got to know another occupation better as a result of blogs kept by people in different occupations.
These seems to be great knowledge. But there is a thin line between voyeurism and concern or knowledge.
We may be intruding into other people's privacy.
Another friend of mine who keeps link to his other friends' blogs has this disclaimer or rather warning,"Please ask my friends before reading their blogs so as to respect their privacy."
But who actually heed these warnings?
You may think why I am saying all these.
But what I have to say is this. We do not know the impact of blogging at the moment. Not the long term effects. However, the short-term effects of blogging are showing.
You may have heard of misunderstandings between colleagues and the result is the blogger getting fired.
You may have heard of nude pictures online that made relatives and friends appalled.
I even have lecturers saying dun put anything online not even blogs that may have harmful effects to urself.
But what exactly is harmful? And what is the purpose of keeping blogs?
IF the purpose of keeping blogs is to be a convenient diary, then there is a conflicting interests present. Being true to your diary and protecting yourself from negative effects of that potential post.
Actually, I find that the blog written by someone can reflect the inner feelings of someone quite truthfully. You never know that that dark side of the person really exist or you didnt get to see unless you are close to that person.
But now with the convenience of the WEB, you get to see it. Even though it is text, the impact of their dark side still left quite a bit impression on you.
I didnt know that one of my friends can yell obscenities. I mean my friend wouldnt say it verbally yet he/she wrote it online. So violent words that you cant believe it is from a docile gentle person.
Hard to believe, but it is true.
There maybe even devastating vision that employers may try to search potential employee's blogs to find out about their personalities and psychologies.
Or that the blogs be used as an incriminating evidence in court against the blogger.
I am not being pessimisstic here but nothing is for certain.
No one knows how the technologies will develop. One can predict the technical aspects but never how a person interact with the existing technologies. Coz Man are the ones with intelligence and they have a special way of using things given to them.
So to be truthful in blogs or not, you have to decide for yourself.
